Verscholen tussen de bomen staat deze vergeten parel van het modernisme.

Het wederopbouwcomplex De Lichtenberg werd in de jaren 50 gebouwd als faciliteit voor onderwijs, cultuur, sport en religie van het Bisschoppelijk College en omvat onder andere een openluchttheater, tennisbanen, een openluchtzwembad en een Mariakapel. Het werd ontworpen door architect P. Weegels, geïnspireerd door Le Corbusier en Bauhaus.

Momenteel staat het grootste deel er vervallen bij.

Alleen de tennisbanen zijn nog als zodanig in gebruik, en het zwembad is gedempt en nu ook tennisbaan.

Sinds 2006 is het complex rijksmonument en zijn er plannen voor behoud van deze markante plek.

Hidden between the trees stands this forgotten pearl of the modernism.

The pre-war rebuilding-complex De Lichtenberg was build in the 50's as a facility for education, culture, sport en religion of the Bishops College and includes among other things an open-air theatre, tenniscourts, an open-air  swimmingpool and a chapel.

It was designed by  architect P. Weegels, inspired by Le Corbusier and Bauhaus.

At this moment the largest part is decayed.

Only the tenniscourts are still as such in use, and the swimmingpool has been subdued and now also a tenniscourt.

Since 2006 the complex is a state-monument and there are plans for conservation of this important place.
