Tussen de bomen, aan de doorgaande weg, staan de leegstaande gebouwen van opvangtehuis "De Stap".

De gebouwen ademen een trieste sfeer. Overal ligt achtergebleven speelgoed, waar ooit nog kinderen mee speelde.

Hoe moet het geweest zijn om hier als kind te wonen en op te groeien, en wat zijn hun herinneringen aan deze plek?

 
Een vijftal gebouwen had vroeger een functie bij het vliegveld, dat van de tweede wereldoorlog dateert. Het hoofdgebouw is opgetrokken in de Engelse cottagestijl.

De gebouwen zijn verlaten in 2003, en sindsdien het mikpunt van vandalen en metaaldieven.

Zelfs het hek wat eerst om het terrein heen stond is gestolen

Maart 2008 kwam het instituut nog in het nieuws omdat het terrein vol lag met papieren en vertrouwelijk dossiers van voormalige bewoners van het opvangtehuis.

Five of the buildings used belong to the former airport that dates from WW2.

The mainbuilding is build in the english cottage-style.

In 2003 the institute has left the buildings and since then vandals and thieves regular visit the property.

Even the whole gate around the terrain is stolen.

March 2008 the institute got in the news because of left papers and confidentially files of the former occupants of the institute.
