Midden in het bos, gelegen in een klein dal, staan de verlaten gebouwen van een synchronisatie studio. Op deze idyllische plek werd jaren lang geluid gezet onder films, documentaires, het polygoon journaal en tal van andere evenementen.
Het bedrijf vestigde zich in de gebouwen van een voormalig klooster. Nadat het klooster leeg kwam te staan in de jaren 30 is het in gebruik geweest door de hitlerjugend.
Net na de oorlog, in 1947 kreeg het terrein weer een nieuwe bewoner. In tegenstelling tot het brits/amerikaanse bezettingsgebied was er in het franse bezettingsgebied geen noemenswaardige studio. De fransen waren er heilig van overtuigd dat het media cinema ingezet kon worden voor het 'heropvoeden' van de duitse bevolking. Het doel was niet alleen het omzetten van franse films naar de duitse taal, maar ook het opnieuw opbouwen van de cinema's, het scholen van personeel en het maken en leveren van artikelen t.b.v. de bioscopen.
In 1948 werd de studio gebouwd vlak naast het voormalige klooster. Het hart van de studio was de grote opnamezaal, die hoofdzakelijk werd gebruikt voor muziek- en spraakopnames en voorstellingen voor publiek. Afgeschermd achter een driedubbel glazen wand zat de geluidsman volledig akoustisch gescheiden van de zaal. Zelfs een geweerschot in de zaal was niet hoorbaar zonder de electronische apparatuur.
Andere ateliers werden gebruikte voor de spraak- en geluidsynchronisatie en voor het inspreken van de na-synchronisatie.
Bij het bouwen van de studio was veel aandacht besteed aan de kwaliteit van zowel de ruimtes als de apparatuur. Het gehele gebouw was voorzien van klimaatbeheersing en voor de acteurs was er een bijzonder luxe ontspanningsruimte.
Vanaf ergens in de jaren 90 staat het gebouw leeg. Overal waar je kijkt staan stapels films te wachten op wat komen gaat. Projectoren staan al jaren stil. Mappen vol met telexberichten en uitgetypte tekst staan nog netjes op de plank. De Olympische spelen in 1977? Een vliegtuigkaping in 1974? De wapenstilstand tussen Pakistan en India van 1971? Alles ligt er nog...

Hidden in the woods, in a small valley, stands the abandoned building of a synchronisation studio. On this idyllic spot people worked for years to put synchronise sound on films, documentaries, the Polygone news and much other events.
The company was established in the buildings of a former convent. After the convent was closed in the 1930's it also was used by the hitlerjugend.
Just after the war the property gets a new ower. In contrast to the British/American occupancy area there was no considerable studio in the French occupancy area. The french were convinced that the cinema could be used for ' re-education' of the German population. The aim was not only converting french films to the german language, but also again building cinema' s, training staff and making and selling goods with had to do with cimema's.
In 1948, the studio was built just beside the former convent. The heart of the studio was the large prerecording room, which was mainly used for music and speech recordings and shows for public. Behind a triple glass window the soundman was entirely seperated from every sound or noise from the prerecording room. Even a gun shot in the room was not audible without electronic equipment.
Other workshops were used for the speech and sound synchronisation and for talking into postsynchronisation.
When building the studio much attention had been given on the quality of both the spaces and equipment. The whole building was provide with climate control and for the actors there was a very luxuriously room.
Since somewhere in the 1990's the buildings are left abandoned. Everywhere you look you see films, waiting on what will come. Projectors standing still for years quiet. Maps full with telex bulletins and typed out text standing in rows on shelfs. The Olympic games of 1977? A plane hijack in 1974? The armistice between Pakistan and India of 1971? Its all there...! |
